Phoebe Bridgers Is Another Fake Feminist
Inside the unseen hypocrisy behind the progressive singer-songwriter.
I’ve always been a big music person. It was always one of the things that helped me escaped from drama in my childhood. I remember locking myself in my room, blasting bubblegum pop on my pink stereo to drown out the constant yelling and arguing in the living room. Today I listen to all kinds of music, usually by artists who write their own music. Despite my more conservative beliefs, I don’t let the artists’ liberal beliefs affect what’s on my playlist. However, there’s still some artists that I can’t listen to on any level because how aggressively annoying they are about their beliefs. One of those artists being Phoebe Bridgers.
Phoebe is not necessarily a super well known artist, but she gained a following through the indie music community and even some Swifites. She was supposed to be one of the opening acts at Nashville night 3 at the Eras Tour, the concert I attended. However, a 4-hour thunderstorm delay prevented her and Gracie Abrams from performing their sets. We only saw Phoebe when her and Taylor performed “Nothing New” together during the “Red” set. My mom even asked when we got back to the hotel “Why was that Phoebe dressed like a nun?”
While I wasn’t a fan of someone so progressive being an opening act, I could understand why Taylor brought her on the tour. Phoebe’s songwriting was often compared to her work, and it’s on brand for her to promote other female songwriters. Of course I love seeing more songwriters gaining momentum in the music industry, and Taylor being the one who influenced them. What I strongly dislike is the fact that many of them are promoting “believe all women” and pro-abortion rhetoric. Bridgers has openly expressed her love for abortion, her support for children transitioning, and trolls those who disagrees with her on X (formerly Twitter).
May 2022: While performing at a concert in Florida during the Parental Rights in Education Act/“Don’t Say Gay” bill debate, Phoebe ended her show by declaring
I like going to places with an especially f--ked up government because the youth is so angry and cool. It doesn’t feel safe to be in the world right now. I mean, America. It’s just so gross and that’s it. F---k DeSantis.
During this time, she also openly admitted to having an abortion, and referred to it as “easy.”
September 2022: Following Queen Elizabeth’s death, Phoebe shared a post that mourned the victims of colonialism during her reign.
October 2022: Phoebe defended Johnny Depp’s ex-wife and said how disgusted she was by social media’s media treatment of her and the trial:
“[The] whole situation was so upsetting to me,” calling out the public’s expectation of AH to be “the perfect victim”. “I think that there’s been this falsehood – and I think queer people are included in this – of having to be the perfect victim, or the perfect survivor, or the perfect representation for your marginalized community. If [AH] exhibited any neurotic behavior, it was held against her. Then Johnny Depp, out of his mouth, admitted some of the most violent, crazy shit in court, and it’s somehow like, people aren’t surprised?”
She also went on to say cancel culture isn’t a real thing:
I mean, is [cancel culture] real? Who’s lost their job politically? [Harvey Weinstein] is in jail for actual sex crimes, and then anything short of that is, maybe, they lose a couple friends or lose a couple jobs…Then five years later, they’re like, ‘Sorry, sorry, sorry.’ And they come back, but they never apologise – they never go away.
She responded to the criticism by sharing this text from her mom:
Phoebe’s Hatred with Men
Considering Phoebe clearly has a hatred with men, she’s also accused several men of some form of abuse.
Ryan Adams
In 2014, a then-19-year-old Phoebe formed a relationship with fellow singer-songwriter Ryan Adams, who is 20 years her senior. The relationship formed a year before it was reported he was separated with his wife Mandy Moore. Phoebe’s song “Motion Sickness” is reportedly about their relationship. In February 2019, The New York Times published a hit-piece on Adams where 7 women (including Phoebe and Mandy) of harassment, emotional abuse, and blackmail. The women said Adams offered to assist them with their music careers, then pursued them romantically. They also claimed that Adams retaliated when they spurned his advances, hindering their careers and harassing them in text messages and on social media.
Adams initially denied the allegations, but would later apologize for his actions.
There are no words to express how bad I feel about the ways I've mistreated people throughout my life and career.
All I can say is that I'm sorry. It's that simple. This period of isolation and reflection made me realize that I needed to make significant changes in my life.
I've gotten past the point where I would be apologizing just for the sake of being let off the hook and I know full well that any apology from me probably won't be accepted by those I've hurt.
I get that and I also understand that there's no going back.
To a lot of people this will just seem like the same empty bull***t apology that I've always used when I was called out, and all I can say is, this time it is different.
Having truly realized the harm that I've caused, it wrecked me, and I'm still reeling from the ripples of devastating effects that my actions triggered.
There is no way to convince people that this time is truly different, but this is the albatross that I deserve to carry with me as a result of my actions.
Realizing the consequences of my actions, I took a hard look inwards and sought to find the truth behind them. What pain was I carrying myself that was so poorly and wrongly being projected onto others?
I made a promise to myself that no matter what it took, I would get to the root of these issues and finally start to fix myself so I could be a better friend, a better partner, and a better man overall.
That being said, no amount of growth will ever take away the suffering I had caused. I will never be off the hook and I am fully accountable for my harmful behavior, and will be for my actions moving forward.
In my effort to be a better man, I have fought to get sober, but this time I'm doing it with professional help. Sobriety is a priority in my life, and so is my mental health. These, as I'm learning, go hand in hand.
But I will not bore anyone with stories of my demons or use them to excuse what I've done. I really want to express that I've internalized the importance of self-care and self-work. I'm really trying.
Music is how I lay my soul bare, and in working through this, I have written enough music to fill half a dozen albums.
Some of these songs are angry, many are sad but most of them are about the lessons I've learned over the last few years. Those ones an expression of my deepest remorse.
I hope that the people I've hurt will heal. And I hope that they will find a way to forgive me.
A part of these allegations that gets under looked is that one accuser claimed he Adams sent her sexually explicit messages while she was underaged. This led to an FBI investigation that was reported the day after the NYT’s initial report. In 2019, the FBI confirmed that the investigation had ended and they found no evidence of wrongdoing. The accuser would later state she admitted to lying about her age to Adams.
Marilyn Manson
In 2021, controversial performer Marilyn Manson was hit with allegations of abuse from multiple women, including his ex fiancé Evan Rachel Wood. The next day, Manson was let go from his record label and talent agency. In the wake of the news, Phoebe went on to include herself in the narrative:
Bridgers would continue to make statements about Manson. During an interview with CNN, she stated:
I think it's very funny that Marilyn Manson's label decided to drop him right when the story went public, and people have just known about it for so long. I find that very annoying. I think it's a lot of performative activism, basically. I think people should take more responsibility internally. It doesn't matter how many people know about it, you should look into things like you're the FBI. But when people make people money, it's really hard – I know – it's really hard to walk away from that. But I think more people should.
Variety would do an interview with Phoebe to talk about her transition to mainstream music. When asked about what led for her to meet Manson, Phoebe replied:
I had a friend whose parents worked on a TV show that he wanted to be a part of, and they knew I was a fan and brought me along to the meeting. I heard him say racial slurs and rape jokes — and he was on his best behavior! I am not one of his victims, but the fact that I can corroborate the stuff he’s being accused of in some way is really expository to me.
After the Johnny Depp trial, I ended up going down the rabbit hole about Manson’s case after I realized Depp and Manson were such good friends. (Manson is even the godfather to Depp’s daughter Lily-Rose). I found the Twitter page MarilynMansonUncanceled. The account posted an article they wrote about Phoebe and her history of accusing men of sexual conduct. It went down a deep dive into who was this friend and what was the TV show she was talking about.
Before going solo, Phoebe was part of a band called Buster. One of the band mates was Jackson White. Jackson is the son of drummer Jack White (NOT the one from The White Stripes) and actress Katey Sagel. Katey was a star in the FX show “Sons of Anarchy,” which was created by Jackson’s stepdad Kurt Sutter. Manson was a guest star in the final season of the show. On December 19, 2013, Phoebe tweeted this:
What’s interesting is that the post on Instagram has since been deleted, but not the tweet. It’s also important to point out that Phoebe was born on August 17, 1994. By December 2013 she was 19. Hardly a teenager like she claimed she was. This also wasn’t the only tweet where Phoebe mentions Marilyn:
Now does seem like something you would tweet about someone who made racial and rape jokes that you didn’t like? Probably not! But by the looks of her social media, those seem like the kind of jokes she would like:
Chris Nelson/Emily Bannon
While the name may not be known, Chris Nelson is a record producer that worked with Phoebe around 2018. Nelson filed a lawsuit against Phoebe and his ex girlfriend Emily Bannon in 2020. Amara Foster wrote an article through Influencer Daily detailing how Nelson met Phoebe and their relationship. Nelson met Phoebe through her drummer Marshall Vore. Nelson believed that Vore and Bridgers were in a sexual relationship as comments about Vore’s preference to date young women despite being in his thirties. Nelson also claimed that the young artist revealed how the drummer dated an 18-year-old and encouraged a 19-year-old to move in with him. However, the producer says that Bridgers never made public comments about Vore. Chris’ then girlfriend Emily would later invite Phoebe to participate in a sexual relationship. The relationship would even make it to its one year anniversary, referring to it on social media as their “happy f***iversary” on September 2, 2019. Nelson said that him and Bridgers had also had sexual encounters together before he found out about Bridgers and Bannon’s relationship. He claimed that the pair had been in a similar affair with the singer’s ex-boyfriend, Conor Oberst. Nelson also noted that Bannon was dating Bridgers’ guitarist Harrison Whitford at the time. However, Whitford was unaware of the three-way relationship occurring. By fall of 2019, Nelson had ended his relationship with Bannon, while Bannon and Bridgers continued their relationship.
By October 2020, Emily posted on her Instagram account claiming Nelson “beat a young Latinx man to death,” “bludgeoned at least one other man with a baseball bat” and “defrauded [a] neighbor out of an estimated $100,000-$130,000.” Phoebe would redirect Emily’s Instagram account by posting on Instagram Stories, “I witnessed and can personally verify much of the abuse (grooming, stealing, violence) perpetuated by Chris Nelson, owner of a studio called Sound Space …”
Nelson sued Bannon and Bridgers for alleged defamation, false light, intentional infliction of emotional distress, intentional interference with prospective economic relations, and negligent interference with prospective economic relations for $3.8 million. The following year, the lawsuit was dismissed.
Paul Mescal
From 2020 to 2022, Phoebe was in a relationship with Irish actor Paul Mescal. In December 15, 2022 podcast episode of DeuxU, it was reported that their relationship ended after Phoebe began a relationship with comedian Bo Burnham. DeuxMoi’s source claimed, “Can confirm the engagement is off between Paul Mescal and Phoebe Bridgers. It’s not an open relationship in the slightest. Paul found out about Phoebe and Bo and called off the engagement.” Phoebe and Bo had since been seen together on several occasions. One occasion was caught by Keith Urban’s TikTok video of him and Nicole Kidman at the VIP tent at Eras Tour’s Philadelphia show. The video showed Phoebe and Bo making out in the background.

While of course this all just speculation, why would a person who’s been in multiple poly relationships not cheat on someone they were in a serious relationship with?
The Grammy’s Always Let Woke Culture Win
Just this Friday, the Grammy nominations were announced. Many great artists like Taylor Swift, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo and Miley Cyrus received several nominations. Phoebe’s new band boygenius also received 7 nominations, including Album of the Year and Song of the Year. One person thought that was openly left out was country singer Morgan Wallen. Wallen’s third album “One Thing at a Time” was number one on the Billboard charts for 12 weeks and his song “Last Night” spent 16 weeks at number one as well. Wallen failed to win any awards at the CMAs despite performing twice (once with Eric Church and again with HARDY and Post Malone). The Grammy’s didn’t even bother nominating him despite his massive success on the charts and selling out stadiums across the country. Phoebe meanwhile is still an opening act and boygenius’ album only charted at number 4 on the Billboard charts.
Why nominate someone who didn’t break any records or made hardly any recognition? Because the lead singer is a woke progressive who hates straight, white men—exactly what Morgan Wallen is.
Social media and liberal journalists will continue to promote artists like Phoebe Bridgers to promote their own agenda. But that doesn’t mean people will by into it. Maren Morris is just one example. The singer announced she was leaving country music as if it was going to change the music industry forever. In reality, no one cared! Country music fans made it clear they would not miss her in the slightest and her music will more than likely not succeed because of the way she continues to criticize those who disagree with her. The only difference with Phoebe is that her music has never achieved the success Morris’ music did once upon a time. More people could more than likely name at least one Maren Morris song, but they probably wouldn’t be able to name a single Phoebe Bridgers song.
So why do I write about an artist that I say isn’t the big deal the media says she is? Because she represents our next generation. Gen Z is continuing to listen to artists who promote pro-abortion and pro-socialist policies that will slowly destroy our children’s brains. My entire point of my page to expose the hypocrisy in Hollywood who promote these policies. They will tell you what great people they are because they’re so “accepting” of the alphabet mafia, but will troll everyone that disagrees with them or call them out for their own transgressions. It’s okay for them to be home wreckers, make jokes about killing people, and associate themselves with people until it’s not cool anymore. But it’s not okay for you to want to protect your child from CRT, pro-transgender ideology, and not believing that you should kill an unborn child. And while I will continue to listen to certain artists that are more liberal leaning, I will not support any artist who associates themselves with anything that harms the lives of children.
Stay tuned for my next article that will be my review on Britney Spears memoir, The Woman in Me.
